Amazon—Senior Manager, Software Development, Prime Video Commerce Tech

Job description

Description: Prime Video is how hundreds of millions of customers around the world discover, buy, and watch the content they love. Behind every offer a customer acts on - every subscription, rental, purchase, and renewal - is the moment they pay, powered by a set of world-class systems built and owned by our Commerce team in Bengaluru. We are the Prime Video Payments team: the voice of the customer at the point of purchase and the engine of Prime Video's global growth. We define, design and deliver payment experiences for our customers WW, across devices. We are also at the forefront of AI innovation - reimagining how customers interact with our commerce surfaces, and how intelligence removes friction from payments to acquire, engage, and retain more customers. Key job responsibilities As a Senior Software Development Manager on the Prime Video Offers team, you will: - Own a major pillar of the commerce platform end-to-end. You'll lead large engineering teams of 10+ engineers each, responsible for critical services and customer journeys that determine what every Prime Video customer can buy, rent, or subscribe to - and at what price. You own the architecture, the delivery, the operations, and the customer experience. - Drive a multi-year architectural transformation. You'll own key pieces of this transformation, making decisions that shape how the system works for years to come. - You will lead and drive conversations across multiple Amazon businesses on driving Prime Video's Payments strategy; and own goals of highest visibility. - Build and scale high-performing engineering teams. You'll hire, develop, and retain senior engineering talent. You'll grow engineering managers into stronger technical leaders, and develop senior engineering leaders toward Principal readiness. You'll create a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and customer obsession. - Set the bar for customer health and operational health. Our services are on the critical path for every PV transaction. You'll own customer-facing reliability first - ensuring customers never see a broken experience - and drive operational excellence through monitorability, availability targets, cost efficiency, and mechanisms that scale. - Partner across organizations to deliver at scale. The work requires deep collaboration across Amazon businesses. You'll represent your pillar in executive leadership forums, negotiate priorities, and drive alignment on shared interfaces and dependencies. - Balance execution with strategic investment. You'll deliver on high-visibility goals while simultaneously investing in the architectural improvements that make future delivery faster. You'll make the trade-offs and communicate them clearly. A day in the life You might start the day reviewing customer health metrics and operational dashboards, then move into a technical design review for a new cross-product capability. After lunch, you're in a roadmap discussion with Product and VP+ leadership, making trade-off decisions on what to prioritize. Later, you're coaching an engineering manager through a difficult people situation, then joining a team celebration for a successful launch. You end the day connecting with your teams over activities that build site strength and community locally. About the team We are the Prime Video Commerce Payments team in Bengaluru - engineers across all levels and managers who build and own the commerce experiences that customers across the globe interact with every day. We're proud of what we've built, and we're just getting started. We are a worldwide team, and we operate like one. That means working across time zones with genuine empathy - understanding that your counterpart in Seattle or London has a life outside of work, just as you do, and that great collaboration doesn't require anyone to sacrifice their personal time. Inclusivity isn't a value we list on a slide - it's how we work. We believe the best ideas come from diverse perspectives, and we actively create space for every voice to be heard, regardless of level, background, or tenure. If you are looking to work in a space that directly impacts how your friends and family interact with Prime Video, this role is for you.
