Description: About MISUMI Americas MISUMI Americas, a division of MISUMI Group, is a leading provider of standard, configurable, and custom manufacturing solutions. By integrating a vast catalog of components with a world-class digital manufacturing platform, MISUMI Americas empowers engineers and procurement teams to accelerate innovation across the entire product lifecycle. With operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago, the company serves as a vital partner for the most innovative companies in the Americas. What’s in it for you? Opportunity To Unlock Your Creativity Think of all the times you were held back from trying new ideas because you were boxed in by bureaucratic legacy processes or old school tactics. Having a growth mindset is deeply ingrained into our company culture since day 1 so Fictiv is an environment where you have the creative liberty and support of the team to try big bold ideas to achieve our sales and customer goals. Opportunity To Grow Your Career There are plenty of jobs out there. The question is whether any of them will help you grow in your career? Will you be challenged by teammates to achieve your potential? Or are they roles that will ask you to do more of what you've already mastered. At Fictiv, you'll be surrounded by supportive teammates who will push you to be your best through their curiosity and passion. Impact In This Role At Fictiv, we are building the world's premier platform for hardware manufacturing. As an Associate Solutions Engineer, you will support our critical quoting and manufacturability functions, working at the interface between our two sets of customers — the builders who order parts through us, and the manufacturing partners who make them. In this role you will learn to review the manufacturability and cost of parts submitted by our builders across processes such as CNC machining and 3D printing. Under the guidance of senior Solutions Engineers, you will apply your Mechanical Engineering background to interpret designs, prepare accurate quotes for custom parts, and flag design considerations that affect cost, quality, and lead time. Your work helps bring products to market faster and directly supports Fictiv's growth. You will report to a Team Lead within Solutions Engineering, who will support your development from guided execution toward independent ownership of quoting and DFM work. Why this role matters to our customers: Speed to Market — accurate quotes and timely DFM feedback help customers make faster decisions and launch sooner. Cost Confidence — precise, transparent costing prevents budget surprises later in the process. Risk Mitigation — catching manufacturability issues early avoids costly rework, material waste, and delays. Quality Assurance — confirming designs are feasible and tolerances are achievable helps customers get correct parts the first time What You’ll Be Doing Quoting Support Prepare cost estimates for standard and moderately complex CNC machining and other manufacturing parts, combining your analysis with Fictiv's software recommendations. Escalate complex geometries, non-standard processes, or challenging timelines to senior Solutions Engineers or High Touch (HT) quoting. Use platform tools to automate portions of the quoting process for speed and accuracy. Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Perform DFM reviews on straightforward parts to highlight risks and suggest design or process adjustments, with guidance on more complex cases. Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and material requirements to assess feasibility. Technical Support & Learning Build knowledge of machining, finishing, and assembly processes and their cost drivers. Learn region-specific manufacturing considerations across the US, India, China, and Mexico. Customer Engagement Communicate with customers on routine clarifications and provide clear, timely updates during quoting. Support senior engineers in explaining trade-offs between cost, lead time, and quality. Cross-functional Collaboration Work with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Sourcing, Quality & Logistics) to keep projects moving. Provide feedback to the quoting software team to help improve the accuracy of automated quoting. Documentation Assist in generating clear 2D drawings per ANSI/ASME Y14.5 standards and maintain accurate records of your quoting analysis. All employees are expected to maintain and contribute to the QMS. Desired Traits Experience & Education 1–2 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, quoting, design, or a related engineering function (internships and co-ops count). 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical training. Working familiarity with CNC machining and 3D printing is required; exposure to additional processes (sheet metal, urethane casting, injection molding, etc.) is a plus. Understanding of GD&T and conventional (coordinate) tolerancing. Working knowledge of the manufacturability and limitations of common metals and plastics. Traits Meticulous, detail-oriented, with an inclination for documentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English required. Self-starter who manages time efficiently and is eager to learn and take on more responsibility over time. Enjoys learning from others and, in time, sharing knowledge about manufacturing processes. We’re actively seeking teammates who: - Bring diverse perspectives and experience to our culture and company. - Excel at being part of a strong, empathetic team. - Thrive in an environment emphasizing respect, honesty, collaboration, and growth. - Have an ‘always learning’ mindset that celebrates learning, not just wins. - Help us continue to build a world-class organization that values the contributions of all of our teammates We encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups, including but not limited to women, members of the LGBTQ community, people of color, people with disabilities, and veterans.
