Amazon—Software Development Engineer II, Infrastructure Supply Chain Automation, Infrastructure Supply Chain Automation

Job description

Description: AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help. As a Software Development Engineer II on our Infrastructure Supply Chain Automation team, you will build large-scale distributed applications using serverless technologies, data lakes, and NoSQL databases to automate the complex processes that keep AWS infrastructure growing ahead of customer demand. The team is expanding quickly with a strong pipeline of projects ready for you on day one, and we are actively investing in new features and AI adoption. If you enjoy building systems from the ground up and solving problems that require creative, unconventional thinking, this is the role for you. Key job responsibilities - Design and build large-scale distributed applications using serverless technologies, data lakes, and NoSQL databases to automate infrastructure supply chain processes for AWS. - Collaborate with internal teams such to understand scaling requirements, translating them into technical designs that account for performance, security, and long-term maintainability. - Write high-quality, well-documented code across the full development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment and operations, ensuring solutions can be maintained by engineers new to the codebase. - Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design discussions, actively training new team members on system architecture and operational practices. - Identify root causes of operational issues and drive permanent fixes, improving system reliability through proactive monitoring and automation. A day in the life You start your morning reviewing deployment metrics and triaging any operational alerts. By mid-morning, you are whiteboarding a new automation workflow with teammates, weighing tradeoffs around data structures, algorithms, and service dependencies. After lunch, you pair with a junior engineer on a code change, coaching them through the review process. Later, you pick up one of the projects waiting in the team's backlog, scoping the technical approach and drafting a design document for peer review. About the team The Infrastructure Supply Chain Automation team sits within AWS Infrastructure Services and directly contributes to the scaling capability of core AWS services. We work alongside software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers across AWS. Together we help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. With a growing project pipeline and active investment in AI-driven capabilities, this is a compelling time to join. You will experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion. Inclusive Experiences Amazon values inclusive experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let it stop you from applying.
