Description: Position: Data Modelling Specialist - Underwriting Designation: Chief Manager Department: Data Science Reporting To: Vice President Work Location: Corporate Office, Goregaon East, Mumbai Objective of the Role To develop, maintain, and enhance predictive data models that support underwriting decisions, improve risk assessment accuracy, automate underwriting processes, and strengthen portfolio quality. The role will leverage statistical modeling, machine learning, and advanced analytics to enable data-driven underwriting and risk management within the life insurance business. Key Responsibilities Responsibility Weightage Design, develop and validate underwriting risk models using internal and external data sources 25% Build predictive models for mortality, morbidity, fraud detection, early claims indicators, and customer risk segmentation 20% Analyze underwriting portfolio trends and identify emerging risk patterns to support underwriting policy decisions 15% Develop scorecards and risk-based underwriting frameworks to improve decision consistency and turnaround time 15% Partner with Underwriting, Actuarial, Data Engineering, Technology, Claims, and Risk teams for model deployment and monitoring 10% Monitor model performance, calibration, and governance requirements, including periodic validations and documentation 10% Support automation and AI/ML initiatives for digital underwriting and straight-through-processing (STP) enhancement 5%
