Implement comprehensive unit, integration, and contract tests (JUnit, Mockito). - Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, system architects, and frontend engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions. - AI Feature Integration: Integrate Large Language Model (LLM) APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, or internal AI gateways) into existing Java applications to enable smart features like summarization, semantic search, or automated classification. - Framework Utilization: Utilize modern Java-based GenAI libraries and frameworks, such as LangChain4j or Spring AI, to build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agentic workflows. Required Technical Skills - Programming Language: Strong proficiency in Java (Java 11/17+ preferred), including deep understanding of multi-threading, concurrency, and object-oriented design patterns. - Frameworks: Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, and Spring Security. - APIs: Proven experience designing and consuming RESTful Web Services. - Databases: Solid experience with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle) and ORM frameworks like Hibernate/JPA. - Build & Version Control: Proficiency with Git, Maven, or Gradle. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure). - Familiarity with message brokers/queues (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ). - Prior experience building a basic Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) application or chatbot (even as a personal project). - Familiarity with Python (for basic AI scripting or data manipulation) is a plus, though the primary focus remains Java. Soft Skills & Competencies - Curiosity & Continuous Learning: A strong desire to stay updated on both Java advancements and the fast-moving GenAI landscape. - Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex backend issues and design creative AI-driven solutions. - Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Collaboration: A team player who thrives in an agile, collaborative environment. Education & Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). - 5+ years of professional software development experience focusing on Java backend systems. - Demonstrated interest or minor project experience (academic, personal, or professional) involving Generative AI or LLM integration. ------------------------------------------------------ Job Family Group: Technology------------------------------------------------------ Job Family: Applications Development------------------------------------------------------ Time Type: Full time------------------------------------------------------ Most Relevant Skills Please see the requirements listed above.------------------------------------------------------ Other Relevant Skills For complementary skills, please see above and/or contact the recruiter.------------------------------------------------------ Citi is an equal opportunity employer, and qualified candidates will receive consideration without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, status as a protected veteran, or any other characteristic protected by law.
