Job Description: Engineering Leadership and Strategy · Lead, coach and develop the Mechanical and Structural Engineering team; establish clear objectives, accountability, succession plans and capability-development priorities. · Translate product and business roadmaps into mechanical engineering strategies, resource plans, technical priorities and execution commitments. · Own technical governance for mechanical, enclosure and structural design, including design reviews, decision records, risk management and configuration/change control. · Build a culture of engineering rigor, ownership, innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement across global and cross-functional teams. Product Development and Technical Governance · Provide technical leadership across the complete product lifecycle, from requirements definition, architecture and concept selection through detailed design, prototype builds, verification, manufacturing release, field deployment and lifecycle support. · Guide the development of parametric 3D CAD models, large assemblies, manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, specifications and product data using PTC Creo and PLM systems. · Ensure robust design practices for sheet-metal components, weldments, molded plastic parts, standard components, interfaces, sealing, lifting, transportation and serviceability. · Approve critical design solutions based on GD&T, tolerance stack-up, material selection, design-for-manufacture/assembly/service, reliability, safety, cost and supply-chain considerations. · Lead technical trade-off decisions and ensure structured closure of design risks, test findings, non-conformances and field issues. Structural Analysis, Validation and Compliance · Provide oversight for analytical calculations, FEA and CAD-based verification of mechanical and structural performance. · Ensure designs meet applicable requirements for seismic, transportation, wind, lifting, internal pressure, ice and snow, fatigue and product lifecycle loading. · Govern verification and validation plans, physical test requirements, test readiness reviews, post-test correlation and improvement of predictive CAE models. · Ensure compliance with applicable standards and codes, including ANSI, ISO, ASME, EN 1993, ISO 1496, IBC 2018, ASCE 7-16, ASTM D4169 and the Convention for Safe Containers (CSC 1972), as relevant to product and project requirements. · Coordinate with licensed Professional Engineers and external laboratories where certification, stamping or independent validation is required. Cross-Functional Delivery and Business Impact · Partner with Program Management, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics, Service and project teams to deliver successful product releases and deployments. · Present design direction, trade-offs, risks and recommendations to senior stakeholders; defend decisions with data while incorporating constructive feedback into the design cycle. · Drive value engineering, cost reduction, standardization, modularity and design reuse without compromising safety, quality, compliance or product performance. · Improve engineering processes, design standards, reusable methods, lessons learned and technical documentation to increase execution speed and consistency. · Monitor portfolio-level technical risks, capacity, milestones and dependencies; escalate constraints early and lead recovery plans when commitments are at risk.
