Job description
We are looking for a Snowflake Operations SME with strong hands-on experience in Snowflake administration, production operations, deployment support, performance optimization, and cost management. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working directly with customers and engineering teams, handling production issues independently, coordinating incident resolution, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Own day-to-day Snowflake production operations and provide SME-level support. Monitor and manage Snowflake warehouses, including sizing, scaling, auto-suspend/resume, workload management, and concurrency. Troubleshoot and resolve production deployment and operational issues with minimal downtime. Support production releases/deployments, including validation, troubleshooting, rollback coordination, and post-deployment checks. Analyze and optimize Snowflake compute and storage costs. Identify cost optimization opportunities across warehouses, workloads, queries, and environments. Monitor warehouse utilization and performance and recommend appropriate warehouse sizing and configuration. Troubleshoot query performance, resource contention, failed queries, timeouts, and workload-related issues. Manage and troubleshoot Snowflake roles, users, privileges, databases, schemas, warehouses, integrations, and security configurations. Work closely with Data Engineering, DevOps, Application, and Security teams to resolve cross-functional production issues. Establish and maintain production monitoring, operational checks, and incident response procedures. Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) for recurring production issues and drive corrective actions. Handle production incidents, prioritize issues based on business impact, and provide timely status updates to stakeholders. Support environment management across Development, QA/UAT, and Production. Maintain operational documentation, deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides, and runbooks. Participate in on-call / production support activities when required. Must-Have Skills Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake administration and production operations. Excellent understanding of Snowflake Virtual Warehouses and workload management. Strong experience in Snowflake cost monitoring and optimization. Proven experience handling production deployments and critical production issues. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of Snowflake performance optimization and Query Profile. Experience with RBAC, roles, privileges, users, databases, and schemas. Good understanding of Snowflake resource monitors, auto-suspend, auto-resume, scaling policies, and warehouse sizing. Experience with CI/CD or deployment processes for Snowflake objects. Strong SQL skills. Experience working with production support / incident management processes. Critical Requirement – Communication Excellent communication skills are mandatory for this role. The candidate should be able to: Communicate confidently with customers and senior stakeholders. Clearly explain production issues, impact, root cause, and resolution. Lead technical discussions and incident calls. Provide concise and structured status updates during production incidents. Translate complex Snowflake/technical problems into language understandable by business stakeholders. Coordinate effectively across multiple engineering and application teams. Demonstrate strong ownership rather than simply escalating issues.
