Role: Mechanical Design Engineer (UK Business)
Location: Chennai, India
The Engineer - Mechanical Design is responsible for designing and developing crane systems, lifting equipment, and mechanical components by creating detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, calculations, and technical documentation. The role collaborates with global cross-functional teams to deliver safe, compliant, cost-effective, and customer-focused engineering solutions throughout the product development and project execution lifecycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design Engineering: Independently identify priorities and manage pre-order and post-order engineering tasks for customer projects.
- CAD Modelling: Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Autodesk Inventor, ensuring alignment with internal specifications, performance requirements, and safety standards.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare bills of materials and enter product data into manufacturing systems such as Teamcenter and SAP.
- Concept Development: Understand project requirements and develop practical design concepts for cranes and material handling systems.
- Engineering Analysis: Perform basic calculations and simulations to validate design strength, performance, and reliability.
